Perry County finances show temporary surplus and tax issues
Perry County Treasurer Tibretta Bigham reports a current balance of 246 440 dollars with 144 695 dollars in bills and payroll due this week leaving a surplus of 101 745 dollars after obligations. State income tax revenues have arrived and a flawed referendum caused a one cent sales tax increase though the rate will revert to 6 75 cents July 1. The county faces late payments to health providers under a self insurance plan, considers bids for a new health plan, and approved sheriff patrol contract changes with Tamaroa. County votes tallied 6 022 with a record turnout for a primary. Meetings set for April 9 23 May 14 28 and June 11 25.
