Appeals court allows World Trade cleanup suits to proceed
The 2nd Circuit allowed thousands of workers who cleaned the World Trade Center site after 9/11 to continue their claims for respiratory and other injuries. City and Port Authority argued immunity, but court said it is too early to decide on that defense, meaning the suits stay in play for now. Plaintiffs’ attorney Worby called the ruling elating, citing ongoing health risks faced by workers. The city noted health protections and safety meetings after the attacks.
