Oscars fashion moves toward classic Hollywood glamour

Hollywood’s red carpet favored safety and elegance at this year’s Oscars. Halle Berry dominated the spotlight in Elie Saab, while Nicole Kidman wore Chanel in pink chiffon. Other leads included Connelly in Balenciaga champagne, Winslet in crimson, and a range of black gowns from Gucci Vera Wang Armani and Oren. The night mixed refined gowns with a few missteps and one extravagant note as Laura Harring flaunted a $27 million diamond and $1 million sandals, drawing attention to footwear over style.
