Low turnout halves Precinct 23 primary in Carbondale
In Carbondale Precinct 23 only write-in votes appeared during a 12 hour primary voting period while judges waited. Jackson County Clerk Rob ert Harrell noted the location in Grinnell Hall near SIU dorms, with spring break reducing student presence and no official counts from that precinct. Reports show concentrated write-ins for county board seats and county officers on the Republican ticket, plus totals for other districts and counties, with overall county vote figures far below historic turnouts.
