Anniversary protest marks U S Iraq war year in Carbondale
Southern Illinois Peace Coalition marked one year of U S involvement in Iraq with a curbside demonstration in Carbondale noting over 550 American deaths and 10 000 Iraqi casualties since March 20 2003 along with a $100 billion price tag and $4 billion monthly occupation costs. Protesters argued no weapons of mass destruction were found and linked Patriot Act and depleted uranium concerns to broader ethical issues.
