Murphysboro resident Alexander Anduze, 30, was arrested by Illinois State Police after an ISP and Children and Family Services inquiry into allegations of sexual assault of a juvenile. He is jailed in Jackson County on a 150000 dollar bond, with a preliminary hearing set for 10 a.m. April 11.

Herrin Hospital officials unveiled a multi million expansion featuring an 11000 square foot emergency department and a new chest pain unit at a dinner at the Herrin Civic Center. Construction may start this summer with costs projected at 7.5 million aided by a 100000 donor check.
