Easter Seals Campaign In Southern Illinois Expanded
About 60 000 households in 21 southern Illinois counties will receive Easter Seals packets as the 1981 drive runs through April 19. Public relations director Les Pappas explains Easter Seals as a treatment without walls serving over 90 disabilities with services from therapy to counseling. The campaign funds about 30 percent of a 250 000 dollar yearly budget, aided by Lions Club Telethon and events like Lily Days and WHCO Sparta radiothon. A saturation mailing rotates every three years, with this year targeting last year’s donors and first year residents. A new Neighbor to Neigh bor program asks residents to pass packets along to neighbors for donations and deposit, replacing house-to-house canvassing.
