Gorham fires chief after board meets in village hall
The Gorham village board backed Mayor Ralph Stone in ousting fire chief Ron Lee at a special meeting. Lee faced accusations of neglecting duties, missing meetings since May, failing to submit firefighter rosters, unauthorised expenditures, and alcohol at the station. Lee defended himself citing workload with the Illinois Department of Corrections and reliance on a former chief. He said repairs to a tanker were necessary to keep it running and denied wild drinking at the station. The board discussed future department protection for residents.
