Northwestern dance marathon raises nearly a million for charity
More than 750 Northwestern University students raised about $1 million for the Bear Necessities Pediatric Cancer Foundation and Evanston Community Foundation at this year’s 30 hour dance marathon. Previous year participation was lower with about 600 students raising just over $700,000. In Peoria, Bradley University student Robert M. Hurt died after a friend allegedly pushed him into traffic during a night out. Brandon W. Gish faces involuntary manslaughter charges and is held on alcohol by a minor citation. In Pontiac, federal disaster funds are now available for flood victims, with FEMA processing online and phone applications and deploying 75 staff to assist.
