Verizon seeks ICC approval for expanded local calling in Southern Illinois
Verizon asks the Illinois Commerce Commission to approve a plan expanding local calling across Southern Illinois. Calls within a 15 mile radius would use a reduced Usage Sensitive rate with a $17.02 monthly fee and 3 cent per call plus 1.8 cent per minute, or an option with the flat fee and 11 cent per call, no per minute charges. Home exchange calls stay at 3.4 cents per call. Customers would dial fewer digits in expanded areas. Regional officials expect ICC approval and a revamped system.
