Saudis push for F-15 parts test of US ties
The Reagan administration moves to sell F-15 equipment to Saudi Arabia as part of a broader push to deepen military cooperation with Middle East states. The deal signals Saudi impatience and tests US balance between protecting Israel and securing access to regional oil. Haig will visit Saudi Arabia next month and broader trip to Egypt, Israel, and Jordan. The sale could enable offensive capability on jets, raising concern in Israel while illustrating the Saudis’ leverage in U.S. policy in the oil-rich region.
