Seven soldiers honored in somber Germany ceremony
Seven American servicemen killed in Afghanistan were honored at Ramstein Air Base Germany before their flag draped caskets were flown home. An honor guard from Army Navy and Air Force welcomed the C 17 transport bringing the remains as chaplains read psalms and Isaiah verses. Coalition forces close in on al-Qaida near Gardez
In eastern Afghanistan hundreds of Taliban and al Qaida fighters were killed as U.S. led coalition forces pressed a major operation near Gardez. Up to 800 militants were seen moving toward the fight with RPGs and mortars. Shelled caves yielded mortars and ammo including foreign IDs. The assault, aided by jets and helicopters, has left several U.S. soldiers dead and trapped al Qaida and Taliban fighters in the mountain stronghold.
