Family runs third generation Jackanicz Dairy near West Frankfort
The Jackanicz Dairy Farm, a third generation, family owned operation near West Frankfort, Illinois, milks cows daily starting at 5 a.m. Brothers Paul and Andy manage feeding with 100 acres of alfalfa and silage corn, care for a 150 head herd, and act as veterinarians and midwives. They keep bulls for herd stability and operate year round regardless of holidays or weather. The farm once relied on a generator during power outages in the 1980s to keep milking uninterrupted.
