Du Quoin city employee placed on unpaid leave after arrest
Du Quoin Illinois longtime city meter reader Kevin E. Toler 43 of 1455 Wells Street Road is on unpaid leave after being charged with misdemeanor retail theft for allegedly stealing under 150 worth of Topps Upper Deck and Fleet baseball cards from a Wal Mart in January. The city council voted to stop wage payments until his case is dispensed with and suggested possible disciplinary action if he used a city vehicle. State police handled the arrest. Toler was free on 1000 bond. City officials say they expect to return him to work once the case ends.

Navy deserter found guilty of discharging firearm
