Consumers Union finds gasoline bikes and mopeds offer about 100 mpg, far from advertised 150 to 200 mpg. They warn these slow, hard-to-see vehicles pose highway and weather risks, warn against urban use, and suggest they fit mainly nonurban, light-traffic settings. Tests show add-ons, bikes, and mopeds underperform. AMF Roadmaster B120 best among gas bikes but hard to start. Suzuki FZ50T among mopeds performs reasonably yet is motorcycle-class.
