Blood drive at SIUC targets area blood shortage
The Red Cross Bloodmobile will visit Southern Illinois University Carbondale on Tuesday and Wednesday to collect donations to ease a regional blood shortage. SIUC personnel official Joseph Ragsdale notes hospitals urge postponing nonessential surgeries, while the annuitants association coordinates the drive. Donations run 11 a.m. to 4 30 p.m. in Ballroom D of the Student Center.

Mulkeytown Man Injured in Rural Franklin County Crash

Woman robbed in Carbondale car lot purse taken
Karen A. Kline of Route 2 Carbondale was robbed of more than $100 early Friday near midnight in a parking lot at 300 South Illinois Avenue Carbondale. Two men approached her and one grabbed her purse before fleeing in different directions. no arrests were made.
