SIU Budget Sent to Governor With 8 Percent Pay Guideline
State budget action moves SIU funding to Gov. Thompson for the new year. Chancellor Kenneth Shaw says $190,066,550 should cover an 8 percent pay boost for administrators and faculty, though Rep. Dennis Hastert cautions revenues may not support the level without tax increases and could invite vetoes. Additional bills include POE license plates for pickups, cancer and heart disease prevention education in schools, and extending elderly home care eligibility for Alzheimer’s patients.
