Farm price support costs near record high next year
Washington AP The Reagan administration warned that federal farm price and income support costs will rise toward a near record in fiscal 1986 unless policy changes occur. Agriculture chief economist Robert Thompson said exports plummet and a grain bumper crop could add 2 to 3 billion and lift costs to 17 to 18 billion, approaching 1983's 18.9 billion record. He noted Soviet crop outcomes could alter the trajectory.
