Oil embargo still shaping buying habits after three years
Area auto dealers and fuel retailers recall the Arab oil embargo as prices remain high and demand shifts. John Armstrong notes price-driven changes in the pricing structure. Imogene Lee believes shortages are unlikely while costs rise. Bob Winsett cites a rebound in large car sales and a shift away from small cars, with environmental rules prompting size reductions. Clyde Brewster says big cars still outsell small ones, and Don Fisher observes the public has forgotten the crisis. Ralph Wilkerson remarks on rising fuel costs affecting transport logistics, while Darryl Simion notes continued preference for large cars and sourcing parts from wrecks.
