AMA warns against governmentalized medicine at Chicago convention
The AMA opened its five day Chicago meeting with a warning from its president about governmentalized medicine. Attendance reached about 4 000 physicians and 4 000 guests and exhibitors, far below 1965 levels as specialty meetings siphon research papers away. Dues rose from 110 to 250 a year and paid members fell to 133 000.
