Johnson Suspended Indefinitely by Angels for Not Hustling
Alex Johnson, 1970 AL batting champion, was suspended indefinitely without pay by the California Angels for failing to give his best effort to winning games. The action follows a 10 inning 4-3 loss to the White Sox and Johnson’s prior official warning from GM Dick Walsh. Johnson has been benched for lack of hustle and has traded barbs with teammates, while Baseball Commissioner Bowie Kuhn said he will investigate.
