School Dispute Ruling Granted in County Hearing
Washington County Judge Joseph Maxwell approved two petitions to detach Red Bud Community School district No 132 from Baldwin and move it to Randolph County. Judge Paul Nehrt recused himself from Ellis Grove School district No 133’s hearing, citing home ties. The Baldwin and Ellis Grove voters sought non consolidation, allowing a return to separate districts.

SA Robert S. Patton son of Mr and Mrs O P Patton 704 South University avenue and SA Herbert Rieke son of Mr and Mrs Herbert L Rieke 910 Lake street Carbondale finished general airman's school US Navy in Jacksonville Florida. They were in a class of 500 ranking 19th and 50th overall. Both are among 16 selected for naval photography schooling and were transferred to Pensacola Florida on June 24.
