1976 graduates see easier job market, Northwestern finds
Northwestern University and other Midwest colleges report a turnaround in hiring for 1976 graduates. Companies plan to hire 15 percent more bachelor’s holders and 18 percent more master’s degree holders, with engineers, accountants, and business admins in high demand. Education majors face tougher prospects and government hiring has fallen. Starting salaries rise 4 to 6 percent, not keeping pace with living costs. Law firms also increase recruitment.
