Battle over transportation budget roils Illinois House
In Springfield on Tuesday the House Appropriations Committee sparred over a 1.53 million fiscal 1974 Department of Transportation request from Governor Walker. Speaker Blair and Minority Leader Choate led the clash as amendments flew, with concerns over timing, line items, and job cuts. The hearing ended with the DOT bill restored to the committee’s satisfaction after more than six hours of debate.
