West Frankfort license station to stay open
The Illinois Drivers License Examining Station at West Frankfort will remain open at least temporarily. Six Southern Winds stations were slated for closure, but only the West Frankfort site will stay open, based on population projections reviewed by the Secretary of State. The closure plan stems from a statewide reform of driver license offices. Mayor McClatchey offered city hall facilities to host a free station, a factor in the decision.
