Joplin Tornado Relief Volunteers Return to Help

Don and Shelley Wilburn of Where 2? ministry visited Joplin Mo two weeks after a devastating EF 5 tornado. They found downtown wrecked with no landmarks or street signs. The couple donated a 20 foot box truck full of supplies to Wildwood Baptist Church, a project they helped build in 2004, to aid the community rebuild.

Miracle of the Human Spirit drives Joplin relief effort

The EF-5 tornado that hit Joplin left 156 dead and 8,000 structures damaged or destroyed. More than 30,000 volunteers have logged about 143,000 hours in aid and recovery, dubbed The Miracle of the Human Spirit. To volunteer call 417-625-3543 or visit 211missouri.org. A viral text message spurred widespread offers of help.

Dane pleads guilty in Sidnee Stephens murder case

In Pinckneyville Carl Dane pleaded guilty to first degree murder connected to the 2010 death of Sidney Stephens. The courtroom scene included tears from the victim’s mother Tracy. The Sidnee Stephens Fund Benefit is set for Sept 24 to benefit the Sidnee Stephens Foundation and a memorial scholarship at Pinckneyville Community High School.
