Dura-Plex seeks county bonds for million-dollar expansion

Dura-Plex Industries of Herrin asks Williamson County Board of Commissioners to issue about 4.5 to 5 million dollars in industrial revenue bonds to fund an expansion that would add 134 jobs, raise payroll to over 1.8 million annually, and boost gross sales to about 19 million. The plan faces county concerns over debt capacity, with Herrin and Marion Chambers endorsing the proposal. If approved, bonds would be repaid in five years at 9 to 10 percent interest and fund a storage facility for a new line of five to six inch polyurethane foam panels used in rugged, insulated structures. Investors from Saudi Arabia and Japan have shown interest, with bids already placed for barracks in Lebanon and contracts in the Middle East.
