State budget cuts totaling 13.8 million urged by special committee

Springfield reports that a special legislative committee proposed 13.8 million dollars in reductions to 50 state agency appropriations for the biennium. Major cuts target Illinois Public Aid Commission 667,000, University of Illinois system 1.487 million, Southern Illinois University 1.487 million, and Public Health 695,000, with other sizable trims.
