Two Murphysboro Teens Held in Burglary Case
Two 16 year old youths from Murphysboro were held by Jackson County authorities on burglary and larceny charges. The suspects are Carl Martin and Paul Rains. Rains was picked up by Murphysboro Police, Martin by Carbondale Police while at a girlfriend’s home. State’s Attorney William Ridgeway said they are suspected in a Wednesday night theft from Chester City Dairy at Walnut and 15th Street in Murphysboro.

Settlement of claims against Freeport Insurance Co and Glenn B Travelstead administrator of James Travelstead estate was approved in Williamson County probate court. Total payments allocate 9000 to Dale Franklin estate and 9500 to Jerry Lee Jones estate for deaths in the two car crash on Route 37 near Marion on April 24. Franklin rode with Travelstead when the collision occurred.
