Zeigler-Royalton district trims lunch prices and class size
Zeigler-Royalton Unit District Board of Education raised lunch prices by 30 cents to offset a $16,000 drop in federal funds for the lunch program. The board will run only two sixth grade classes in 1981-82 due to budget limits and lack of a certified teacher for a departmentalized sixth grade. A petition sought three classes for next year amid 63 fifth graders. Superintendent George Connor said salaries are negotiable with teachers, with the first salary meeting set for August 10 after state aid decisions. The district approved a $60,000 tax anticipation warrant for July, rehired bus drivers, authorized a part time chorus teacher, and moved $34,477 from state aid to transportation.
