Schools use surplus property for vocational program
Edwards County High School in Albion used $12,000 of federal surplus equipment to launch a heavy construction course training 11 students in maintenance and operation of real equipment. The program, begun in 1970, leases land for on-site road surveys and grading projects, providing saleable skills and community service, and reflects Governor Ogilvie’s plan to ease local school costs.
