City eliminates Carbondale water rate for 23 firms
Carbondale City Council Tuesday eliminated the commercial industrial water rate affecting about 23 businesses in Carbondale. The change will raise water and sewer bills for those entities, with no revenue estimate available. An audit cited lower than expected revenues and higher lens costs, and the move aims to avoid SIU court action and fund about $3.6 million in bonds.
