Texas man surrenders after Iowa bank robbery attempt turns deadly

Hubert B. McClelland of Beaumont Texas, 42, in custody on murder charges after a Walmart parked car robbery spree. He killed three people including Mrs. Charles Schwab 41 of Belle Plaine and two farmers and abducted two children before surrendering near Cedar Rapids Iowa. Police traced his background from Texas and found he had used the alias Joseph Robert Carter.

Ten die in station wagon crash near Hardeeville

Ten persons all from Savannah Georgia perished when their station wagon collided with an asphalt truck south of Hardeeville South Carolina at U S 17 and S C 170. Five members of a single family were among the dead with no survivors in the wagon. The victims ranged from small children to teens and adults.

Troop helicopters collide killing many at New River facility
