Retiring Southern Illinois educators total 1500 years of service
The 1971-72 school year marked the end of long careers for many educators across Southern Illinois. Marion Unit Two and Carterville districts led retirements with teachers totaling hundreds of years in service, including Rue Yewell 43 years and Omer Sims 39 years, among others in Carbondale, Benton, Murphysboro, and surrounding districts.
