Pinckneyville Council to Fill Vacancy and Meter Contract

The Pinckneyville City Council scheduled an adjourned meeting Tuesday at 2pm to fill a council vacancy and review a proposed ordinance for downtown parking meters. Billy D. Smith resigned as councilman and public health and safety director, citing lack of cooperation from other officials. Smith was elected in 1967. The council may appoint to the unexpired term and discuss a meter contract to install downtown meters, a practice rare in the region.
