Six Area Students Attend SIU Science Course
Six area students join a National Science Foundation program at Southern Illinois University. The first two week session runs through July 1 with forty students in math physics and physiology. Murphysboro Bands Start Summer Concert Series
Murphysboro Municipal Band opens its Music Under the Stars season this Thursday at 8 p m in Riverside Park shell for 10 Thursday concerts through August. The Murphysboro Union Band Local 697 begins Saturday at 6 30 p m on the north steps of the Jackson County Courthouse with paid union concert proceeds and Sunday Riverside Park church services.

Sewer Blocked in Carbondale by Wax from New Era Dairy
Wax used by the New Era Dairy to seal containers blocked the sewer on South Washington Avenue. Water Dept official F. E. Corbit said workers cleared the line on Monday and Tuesday using a bypass on Walnut Street. A small water main break at the north city limits did not stop service. cause of the blockage remains undetermined per plant supervisor Carl Martin.

Rites Set for Mrs Dunihoo of Herrin
Funeral services for Mrs. Elise Dunihoo age 86 of Herrin are set for 2 30 p m Thursday at Johnson Funeral Home with burial in Rosehill Cemetery. She died Tuesday at Creal Springs Nursing Home and two sons Lloyd and Charlie who died earlier are omitted from the obituary.
