Tax Reform Bill Heads to House for Vote
Springfield June 22 A final decision on state tax reform rests with the Illinois House after the Senate approved a revenue article amendment 46 to 2. The measure would allow property classification for tax purposes and bar a graduated income tax, with real estate and other property taxed at different rates. Supporters say a true sales tax could replace the retailers' occupation tax, potentially exempting food.
