Heart Benefit Extravaganza to Aid Marion Heart Fund
The Marion Herrin Heart Fund Drives sponsor a Heart Benefit Extravaganza from 6 to 10 p.m. June 28 at the Marion Holiday Inn. Betty Orlandi and Les McCollum coordinate the event with a finger food buffet champagne cocktails and entertainment courtesy of Mr and Mrs Stan Hoye. Tickets support the American Heart Association aiding research education and community service. Cape Girardeau Missouri Jaycees plan a six day Summer Dain festival July 2 to 7 in Arena Park. The Fourth of July features Nashville on the Road with Jim Ed Brown Helen Cornelius Jerry Clower Wendy Holcombe and The Gems at 730 p.m. A day of free entertainment runs noon to midnight with rides watermelon car show and live bands. A 6 p.m. band concert precedes the 730 p.m. show followed by a fireworks display. The Modern Woodmen sponsor a Family Life program at 5 p.m. Saturday at Riverside Park Murphysboro with Judge Peyton Kunce addressing American family issues. Jackson County Homemakers elect seven officers and honor Clara Belle Lungwitz and Jane McLaughlin in leadership roles.
