Murphysboro Eyes Red Cross Blood Bank Status
An informal committee and St Joseph Memorial Hospital officials began steps to designate Murphysboro as a Red Cross Blood Bank community. A June 29 meeting at the Presbyterian Church will train volunteers for blood collection with first donation set for July 14 and blood units visiting the city three times yearly. The goal requires at least 400 donors annually and hospital staff would manage whole blood supplies, replacing unused units within 21 days.
