Attorney named for four boys in barn burning case

Jonesboro circuit court has appointed Anna attorney Dick Bigler to defend four youths accused of burning two barns and a house and damaging two Dongola school buildings. Defendants Bobby Pollard 18 Larry Stockman 24 Clarence Magee 16 and Charles Morrison 21 face two arson counts and criminal damage charges. They are held on 17000 bond with hearings not yet set. Union County aims to present additional charges against farmer Robert Long for a double murder while in hospital care.

Anna hospital to celebrate Illinois Sesquicentennial anniversary

The Anna State Hospital plans a July 3 celebration with an afternoon and evening program featuring old-fashioned games carnival stunts and group singing. Attendees are encouraged to wear period attire and join folk and country bands square dance groups and quartets from 6 to 10 p.m. Public invited. groups may contact the Activity Therapy Dept by June 24.
