Building trades project at Carbondale high school district
The Carbondale High School District 165 board sold this year’s Building Technology House for 38200 dollars and bought two new lots for 13000 dollars for next year’s program. The sites are at Glenview and Chautauqua streets. The board also extended career development funding from the city. The program will drop from five to four participants next year. A committee will study relocating district offices from a converted house nearby. Superintendent Melvin Spence plans to close The Store, the school run shop selling sandwiches and supplies.

Hospital Board approves modest rate hikes
The Franklin Hospital Board votes to raise hospital room rates by five dollars and nursing home rates by two fifty a day due to higher malpractice insurance costs. Dongola Homecoming Plans Made For June 28
The 15th annual Dongola Homecoming will be held at 5 30 p m June 28 in the Dongola ballpark. The fundraiser features homemade foods and desserts live music by the Crippen Brothers Band and The Sharecroppers rides for children two sweetheart contests and an MC Terry Keller. Hospital Permit Hearings Set for Carbondale and Chicago
A public hearing on proposed standards for hospital construction and modification permits will be held Wednesday at 7 30 p m at the Holiday Inn in Carbondale with a second session in Chicago on Friday morning. Hospital administrators and others may submit comments in writing or verbally at the hearings or send comments to the state board before Friday's meeting in Chicago.
