Expansion the key farmer says get in there
Franklin County farmer Adam Capogreco urges continual expansion while maintaining what you have. Beginning at 17 on 160 acres near Mulkeytown, he now farms about 1,400 acres with 1,200 tillable, investing in equipment and owning a Cher okee 180 plane. He notes land costs about $300 per acre and foresees a future with larger farms, but stresses keeping overhead low and avoiding heavy debt. His son Lenny, 17, helps on the farm and aims for a private pilot license once hours are met.
