An unidentified figure posing as a grim reaper disrupted a Wednesday morning protest at the Minneapolis induction center. Police ejected about 30 war protesters as the figure chanted the names of servicemen killed in Vietnam while others sang.
Chester Unit District No. 139 offered nine month contracts to four educators. Donald Rippy would teach fourth grade at Chester Community Grade School with a 8650 salary. Rebecca Johnson to teach third grade, beginning 6500 salary. Patrick Malley to teach junior high and assist in coaching at the high school for 8700. Jeffrey Smith to teach English and social studies at Chester High with 6500 base. Edmund A. DiRosa received SIU STU Foundation Recognition Award for service to SIU.
