Optimistic economist foresees safe farm exports under tariff shifts
University of Illinois agr icultural economist Roland W. Bartlett argues that Common Market tariff barriers set for July will not derail U S farm exports. He cites rising GNP and income, continued tariff free imports of feed grains and soybeans, and expected corn exports to near a billion bushels by 1976 as factors supporting higher farm prices despite occasional dips.

ASC chairman cites supports as muscle in the market
Jackson County Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Committee chair Robert A. Moore says price support bans give farmers muscle in the market. He notes loans offer immediate harvest cash and allowed later redemption, with market prices harder to predict. He adds 1967 soft red winter wheat crop is larger than last year, risking price drops if harvest sales flood the market. Gov. Kerner names Dr. George W. Lantis to head the meat and poultry inspection division after Dr. Mau’s death.
