Murphysboro won 5-4 at Riverside Park, handing Zeigler the Coal Belt Teenage League title drought. Keller pitched nine innings, walked in the ninth to start the decisive rally, and Murphysboro pulled ahead on a wild first pitch and intentional walks.
Wilson wins Class A flight after a final round surge as Loren Wilson cards three birdies on the back nine to total 231. Jim Chuck Newkirk Connie Connell and Paul Smith follow with 234 and 235 as Foulk and Pipes falter late. Bob Payne claims another Mount Vernon title in the event.
Carbondale and Paducah Kentucky split six hits apiece but Paducah overcame Carbondale 52 in Cleveland area American Legion play Sunday. Paducah rallied in the sixth and eighth innings to secure the win, overcoming the Carbon squad.

Murphysboro’s mound staff featured strong performances from several players, while Centralia and Mt. Vernon contended in Class B and D flights.
