Federal move to end home heating oil price controls
The Federal Energy Administration seeks to lift price controls on home heating oil and diesel by July 31, contending it won’t raise consumer prices. Congress must object within 15 days. The agency already ended residual oil controls on June 1 amid claims foreign supplies are adequate and controls hurt the market. Texaco hiked gasoline prices by one cent at all stations, with some dealers absorbing wholesale increases.
