Murder for money plan ends in family killings
James A. Ruppert described a scheme to destroy his entire family on Easter Sunday in Hamilton Ohio to inherit 300000 dollars. Prosecutors say Ruppert shot his mother brother sister in law and eight nieces and nephews after a failed bid to control a savings account. He planned to plead not guilty and not guilty by reason of insanity and hoped to be declared sane after commitment to Lima State Hospital.

Old gun foils death for pair in West Vancouver
An 89 year old man and his 92 year old wife attempted murder suicide when a 50 to 60 year old .22 pistol discharged. The woman's head wound was a scalp laceration after the bullet ricocheted from a hair curler. The man fired at his ear and the bullet lodged in his ear. Both were hospitalized in good condition. The weapon and ammo had been unused for decades.

Man pleads guilty to 24 deaths in discotheque fire
Peter Leonard, 22, pleaded guilty to 28 counts of murder arson and burglary for the Gulliver's discotheque fire that killed 24 and injured more than 30 near Port Chester New York. A temporary sentence of 15 years to life was set pending final sentencing on July 16.
