Six Scouts Complete 150-Mile Illinois Hike

West Frankfort Explorers Alan Peebles Dale Butta Ron Lampkin Greg York Phillip Parkhill and Greg Nolen hiked 150 miles from Grand Tower to Cave In Rock over a week. Rainy days rough terrain included Williams Hill and a Goreville night in City Hall. Peak mileage reached 30 miles in one day as they carried 25 to 50 pound packs and survived sickness from food.

Marion man files $100000 lawsuit in Williamson County

Sam Troxel of Marion sues GH Allen Inc in Williamson County Circuit Court for $100,000 alleging an inexperienced employee caused gear movement that mangled his hand while repairing earth moving equipment for the Allen company. The incident occurred June 24 1963 near Olney.
