Council To Act Again On Water Company Franchise
Murphysboro moves to revisit a 20 year water franchise bid after last week’s council delay. A revised agreement would void the old deal if water-softening facilities and mains are not installed by a set date. City Attorney White said an Illinois Commerce Commission incentive urges timely improvements. Mayor Hart says the delay protects citizens from potential failures. The current franchise has six years left. the new runs 1950 to 1969.
