Carbondale to Receive HUD Grant for Water Project
Carbondale will obtain a 450000 HUD grant for water and sewer facilities to fund the second phase of the Cedar Lake project. The funds, added to 1710000 previously authorized, will finance the intake structure at Carbondale Reservoir near Evergreen Park and a transmission line to the treatment plant on South Wall Street. A 587854 change order for Cedar Lake, awarded to Nutty and Pautler of Chester, completes the project including the intake and water main. Water will be pumped from the new lake south of the city to the reservoir, then to the treatment plant. The HUD grant was essential to finish the plan.
